Looking for new music to listen to while you work, or drive, or just hang out? Check out Paper Lions, a fantastic band from PEI. They have a few albums and EPs out and it looks like they’re in the process of recording a new album. A video from their first release just hit over 1 million views on YouTube, which is a pretty crazy feat. They’re actually giving away their last EP, “Trophies”, for free at this link:

Merilyn Simonds in Ottawa Magazine05.06.12

Last summer I received an email from Ottawa Magazine asking if I would be interested in taking some photos of Merilyn Simonds, a local writer who lives near Brockville. She had recently written a book called “A New Leaf: Growing With My Garden” and they were going to do a question and answer article about her book and her thoughts on gardening and spirituality. Here are the two images published with the article in the April 2012 issue:

And here are some that didn’t make the cut but I thought were pretty decent.

She has some pretty awesome animal friends on her property, including this friendly cat and a rooster!

The cat was not camera shy.

Kingston Relay For Life 2011 Photos05.04.12

Just a reminder that the Kingston Relay For Life is coming up on June 1st from 7pm to 7am at RMC. I’ve been able to volunteer for the last few years shooting photos of the event and it’s a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to get together to celebrate the life of cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost to cancer. Here are some photos from 2011′s event.

Here some recent corporate headshots I did for Empowered Networks at Confederation Basin in downtown Kingston. I love the natural look with a bit of soft greenery in the background.

Meaghan & Matt’s Wedding Photos, Albert College, Belleville ON04.15.12

Here are some of my favourite photos from Meaghan and Matt’s wedding in Belleville yesterday! The ceremony took place at Albert College and the reception was downtown at the mysterious 360 Pinnacle Street! I think it used to be where The Brick was, but Meaghan and Matt had the building converted into an awesome reception venue! Special thanks to Sam Shepherd for second shooting with me and doing an amazing job (as always)! And I’m also looking forward to checking out the video by Erica of Champagne Productions! Ottawa Arboretum Family Photos02.26.12

Last fall I did a marathon family photo shoot at the Arboretum in Ottawa! I think there were about 12 different families who participated in half-hour shoots throughout the day at the park. Morgan & Alastair’s Wedding Photos, Fields On West Lake, Prince Edward County12.02.11

Here are some of my favourite photos from Morgan and Alastair’s wedding at Fields on West Lake in Prince Edward County, just outside of Picton! It’s an awesome barn on a really big (and beautiful) property that’s been converted for weddings and other events and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot there a few times now. I apologize for so many photos but I had a really hard time narrowing them down so I just went with a million or so. Enjoy!

Heather & Scott’s Wedding Photos, Kingston City Hall (Memorial Hall) and Olivea Restaurant, Kingston, ON11.27.11

Here are some photos from Heather and Scott’s wedding, way back when the weather was nice! I’m going to catch up on my blogging this week with plenty of weddings, engagement shoots, family photo shoots and a few other things. But for now, here are some of my favourites from Heather and Scott. The ceremony was at the beautiful Memorial Hall in Kingston City Hall and the reception was a nice intimate affair at Olivea Restaurant, downtown. Also, a quick note to one of my favourite moments when I first met Heather and Scott: Scott made a Dr. Horrible reference, which was pretty much the best thing ever. Enjoy the photos!

Are You An 80′s Pop Culture Nerd? Book Recommendation!10.30.11

I just finished the awesomest book if you’re a pop culture nerd like I am. It’s called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (who also wrote the cult movie Fan Boys). It’s loaded to the brim with crazy movie, TV, music, and video game references and it’s also a fun story. You can download the first 3 chapters to sample it here.

The book takes place in a miserable future where people spend most of their time in a virtual reality “game” called the OASIS. The creator is a Willy Wonka-type guy who passes away and leaves his entire fortune (and the fate of the OASIS) hidden in easter eggs inside the game itself. It’s such a nerd book and it’s crazy awesome.
